Biomass from the NEFSC survey database was aggregated into the Georges Bank and Gulf of Maine regions for commercially and ecologically important taxa. The goal was to use this data in a surplus production modeling workshop to explore the effects of fishing and climate on individual species, functional groups, and the whole ecosystem.

Provide biomass for species on Georges Bank or in the Gulf of Maine to use in surplus modeling analyses

A pull from the SVDBS was done for each species in the database for raw biomass from 1963-2009 using a SAS script.Species were aggregated into larger taxa (e.g. Skates (NS)) as needed for the analyses.Biomass for each taxa was aggregated into the two regions, Georges Bank and Gulf of Maine.
