New York Bight sub-estuaries Study following Hurricane Sandy

Polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), organochlorine pesticides, polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs), polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) and alkylated PAHs, aliphatic hydrocarbons (AHs), and petroleum biomarkers (steranes and hopanes) were examined in bed sediments from New York Bight sub-estuaries following Hurricane Sandy in October 2012.

Polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), organochlorine pesticides, and polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs) were examined in young of the year bluefish and mussels from New York Bight sub-estuaries following Hurricane Sandy in October 2012.

The study was conducted in collaboration with USGS who has all data related to this project.

NEFSC Data Access Procedure:

1. Formal request in writing usually to the data owner/contact or Center Director;

2. Requester is contacted by data owner to review and verify the request content and details for data delivery options.

3. If data is confidential then owner will determine if the data may be released to the requester;

4. If data can be released, the data is downloaded and packaged for delivery electronically; or the requester may be directed to where the data is available online.

NEFSC Data Access Constraint:

If data is stored on an internal NEFSC network, the requester may not have direct access to query the data unless they are also authorized for network access.

Sample analyses included blank samples, surrogate recoveries, field replicatesm and reference materials. Mass spectrometry was used to provide additional confidence in the analyte detection.

Data are currently accessible through USGS website, access using a NMFS archiving location is yet to be determined
