The Marine Mammal and Turtle Division collects data about individual cetaceans and sea turtles that come ashore, or strand on the beach. The date and location of each occurrence is recorded, and biological data about the animal are collected, including its species, sex and size.
FISMA controls are in place to protect stored data from unauthorized access and/or disclosure.
User must read and fully comprehend the metadata prior to use. Acknowledgement of NOAA SWFSC, as the source from which these data were obtained, in any publications and/or other representations of these data is requested. The user is responsible for the results of any application of these data for other than its intended purpose.

Data are stored in a secure server to protect them from unauthorized access. Data are backed up on a daily basis on a local area network. Data are also backed up and stored at a remote site for retrieval in case recovery is needed. |
