Data Table
Data Attribute / Type | Description |
---|---|
CRUISE_ID
VARCHAR2 |
Cruise name used to identify the survey or cruise (and as listed in /ftp/pub/hydro). |
GEAR_TYPE
VARCHAR2 |
The type of CTD used on the cast, or "bottle" if hydrographic stations were completed using Niskin bottles for discrete depth sampling. |
CAST
VARCHAR2 |
The consecutive cast number completed on the cruise. |
GEAR_SN
VARCHAR2 |
The serial number of the instrument (typically the CTD). |
OP_CODE
VARCHAR2 |
The operation code for the station, typicall V,B or W representing a Vertical profile, a CTD deployed with a bongo net attached below, or a Water cast to collect a calibration sample for the CTD conductivity sensor. |
LAT_DD
NUMBER |
The latitude of the station express as decimal degrees so that 40 degrees north, 30 minutes = 40.5 |
LON_DD
NUMBER |
The longitude of the station expressed as decimal degrees so that 70 degrees, 30 minutes = 70.5 |
GMT_DATE
DATE |
The cast date using the Greenwich mean time. |
GMT_TIME
NUMBER |
The GMT time with minutes expressed as decimal hours. |
GMT_YDAY1
NUMBER |
The calendar year day using GMT_DATE and GMT_TIME. The time is expressed as a decimal day. The conventions is that January 1st, 12:00 noon = 1.5 |
STA_BTM_DEPTH
NUMBER |
The bottom depth where the hydrographic data was collected for a given station. |
STA
VARCHAR2 |
The consecutive station occupied on the cruise. |
STA_STD
VARCHAR2 |
The standard station occupied on the cruise; typically applicable to MARMAP and GLOBEC cruises. |
VESSEL_NUM
VARCHAR2 |
The consecutive cruise number for each ship by either calendar year (typical of NOAA vessels) or for the life of the ship (typical of UNOLS vessels). |
DOE
DATE |
The date of the last entry |
DOC
DATE |
The date of the last change to the table |
UOE
VARCHAR2 |
Who made the last entry (identified by oracle username). |
UOC
VARCHAR2 |
Who made the last change to the table (identified by their oracle username). |
SITE_ID
NUMBER |
Introduced with FSCS2.0, it is the pre-planned location of standard bottom trawl survey operations (defined as a three nautical mile circle around the pre-planned location where a bottom trawl will be towed. All operations performed within the site are tied back to the site_id. |
