Abstract:

This data set contains ortho-rectified mosaic tiles, created as a product from the NOAA Integrated Ocean and Coastal Mapping (IOCM) initiative. The source imagery was acquired from 20200105 - 20200417 with a Leica ADS100 pushbroom sensor.

Purpose:

Ortho-rectified mosaic tiles are an ancillary product of NOAA's Coastal Mapping Program (CMP), created through a wider Integrated Ocean and Coastal Mapping initiative to increase support for multiple uses of the data.

Supplemental Information:

The ground sample distance (GSD) for each pixel is 0.30 m. The imagery was not tide coordinated at the time of acquisition.

Data Quality

Horizontal Positional Accuracy:

The project specifications require that only horizontal accuracy be computed for orthoimagery files. The horizontal accuracy was tested with 5 checkpoints located throughout the project area. These checkpoints were not used in the calibration or post-processing of the imagery data. The checkpoints were distributed throughout the project area and were surveyed using GPS techniques. See survey report for additional survey methodologies. The x and y positions of where the checkpoints fell on the orthoimagery were collected. These values were then compared to the surveyed control point x and y values.

Qualitative value:

Tested 0.214064 meters (0.7 feet) RMSEx. The RMSEx of the imagery was calculated using 5 independent checkpoints.

Tested 0.17418 meters (0.57 feet) RMSEy. The RMSEy of the imagery was calculated using 5 independent checkpoints.

Tested 0.275975 meters (0.91 feet) RMSEr. The RMSEr of the imagery was calculated using 5 independent checkpoints.

Completeness Measure:

The extent of image coverage for pilot dataset constricted to 1993 3000 m x 3000 m tiles.

Completeness Report:

The extent of image coverage is limited to the acquired flight lines which were planned and therefore may not include all areas within the bounding coordinates.

Conceptual Consistency:

All rectified images were loaded in Global Mapper to view the entire project area for tone differences, complete coverage, warping/smearing imagery due to inaccurate DEM, and any other obvious problems. All final tiles are reviewed for artifacts, unblended seam-lines and warps or smears and then corrected using Photoshop.

Description:

The full resolution aerial imagery was color balanced and mosaicked inside of Inpho's Orthovista platform. The imagery was radiometrically balanced one flight line to another using the rectified ADS 16-bit 4 band (RGB-IR) imagery. No individual manipulation took place with the near-infrared band to maintain as much band integrity as possible. Once the imagery was processed through Inpho's workflow Quantum imported the Orthovista output into their proprietary image database software and completed any additional image feature cleanup. Quantum created a Tone Contrast Curve (TCC) to complete the 16-bit to 8-bit image conversion. The final image format delivered was Stripped TIFs that were geo-referenced and accompanied by TIF World Files. Original image tiles are 3 km by 3 km squares.
