NOAA Fisheries' Science Board
NOAA Fisheries’ Science Board is the senior leadership team that develops and guides our national scientific enterprise to accomplish our mission. We strive to:
- Advance knowledge of the ocean’s ecosystems, habitats, trust resources, and fishing communities
- Provide definitive scientific advice to NOAA and its partners for sound decision-making regarding trust resources and communities
- Provide advice to the assistant administrator and chief science advisor on scientific and operational issues
- Provide other services to the assistant administrator and chief science advisor as requested
- Assist our component offices in acquiring resources, staff, and infrastructure needed to conduct the scientific enterprise
- Support a diverse workforce and advancement opportunities
The board is chaired by Cisco Werner. Members include senior scientists and science center directors. The board is supported by an executive secretariat (nmfs.scienceboard.execsec@noaa.gov).
