Adela Roa-Varón Ph.D.
Dr. Roa-Varón is an evolutionary ichthyologist with a synthetic approach incorporating morphological, genomic and fossil-based data, in the attempt to understand factors that have shaped the diversification and evolution in ray-finned fishes, using Gadiformes (aka cods, hakes, rattails), as a model clade. Currently focused on species delimitation using an integrative taxonomic approach for the identification, delineation and description of hakes (Merluccius spp.), a high priority group for fisheries conservation. Dr. Roa-Varón is currently working as a research associate at NOAA's National Systematics Lab.
