Jennifer Gardner

Fisheries Biologist

Jennifer joined NOAA as a fisheries biologist at the Kodiak Laboratory in 2017. Jennifer made her way up to Alaska getting her sea legs as a shellfish observer on the Bering Sea and learning about local fisheries while working next-door at Kodiak's Alaska Department of Fish and Game. Jennifer earned a B.A. from Truman State University and a M.S. from the College of Charleston. Currently Jennifer works as part of the Shellfish Assessment Team, going out to sea each summer on the eastern Bering Sea bottom trawl survey, conducting lab studies on commercial crab, and leading lab and survey-specific safety initiatives at the Center. When not studying crab or out on the Bering Sea, you can find her chasing around her energetic toddler and husky, or sea kayaking around the island.
