Matthew Rogers
Matthew is a nutritional ecologist whose focus is in studying the food webs of Alaska's Large Marine Ecosystems. He is involved in developing long-term data sets and ecosystem metrics to help scientists and managers understand marine trophic relationships and the nutritional condition of fish and marine mammals. He is particularly interested in the use of stable isotope data for studying food webs. He also oversees the AFSC Auke Bay Laboratories Chemistry Lab. The chemistry lab employs a suite of analytical instruments and produces numerous data streams related to nutritional ecology, such as proximate composition, lipid content, RNA:DNA ratios, and stable isotope composition. He has a deep fondness for velcro cable ties, powder skiing, live music, and unanswerable questions.
