Mid-Atlantic Cooperative Research Summit

This one-day summit will bring together scientists, fishermen, managers, and industry representatives to share new cooperative research projects, identify opportunities for enhanced industry participation, and discuss best practices for applying cooperative research results to assessments and management.

The goals of the summit are to:

• Share the approaches and results of new cooperative research projects or those that have recently been concluded
• Identify opportunities for expanding the contributions of the fishing industry to research
• Facilitate regional coordination of cooperative research
• Develop new partnerships between the fishing and science communities
• Identify priorities for near-term science and management challenges that can be addressed by cooperative research

Abstract Submission

If your work involves a collaboration between researchers and fishermen, please consider submitting an abstract for an oral presentation. If you have never been involved in cooperative research, but are interested in learning more and becoming more involved, please consider attending. The abstract deadline was December 22, 2023. 

Instructions for Presentations

Presentations on ongoing or recently completed cooperative research projects are encouraged. All presentations should strive to be insightful, to be easily understood by a wide audience, and to specifically describe how research results are, or could be, applied. Fishing industry members who wish to provide an oral presentation/statement related to cooperative research are encouraged to do so on the registration form.

Oral Presentations

Speakers are limited to 10 minutes for their presentations. Powerpoint presentations must be submitted prior to the summit. Presenters will receive detailed instructions on presentation submission via email.
