Pacific Salmon Fisheries Management Plan
About
Pacific salmon fisheries provide for commercial, recreational, and tribal harvest in ocean and inland waters. The broad geographic range and migration route of salmon, from the inland tributaries of Idaho to offshore areas of Alaska and Canada, requires comprehensive management by several entities. NOAA Fisheries works in cooperation with federal, state, tribal, and Canadian officials to manage these fisheries through several forums. The map below illustrates the forums guiding salmon harvest management by geographic area, as well as the migration route of the salmon species we manage for sustainable harvest. NOAA is a party to each of the forums and plays several regulatory and conservation roles.
