Giovanni Gianesin
Giovanni manages communication products for our cooperative research branch and works alongside fishing industry partners to develop systems that support data collection at sea. Before joining CRB in 2013, he trained observers and At-Sea Monitors in safety, protocols, and fish identification for Northeast and Mid-Atlantic federal fisheries. He has over 700 sea days collecting data onboard commercial fishing vessels in the Gulf of Alaska, the Bering Sea, New England, and Mid Atlantic waters. In previous roles, he served as an Endangered Species Observer and Dredge Placement Monitor for the Army Core of Engineers in New York Harbor and as an environmental educator on Virginia’s Eastern Shore. He has bachelors’ degrees in Marine Biology and Communications from Roger Williams University and a MS in IT Data Presentation from Southern New Hampshire University.
