Professional History
Elizabeth (Liz) McGovern began her work at the Northeast Fisheries Science Center as a contractor in 2015, and in 2021 started her federal career there as a budget analyst. Among her many duties, she provides essential administrative and program support to our Wind Energy Team.
Liz grew up in Narragansett, Rhode Island and graduated from the University of Rhode Island in 2015 with a bachelor's of science in business administration. While at URI, Liz majored in accounting, but knew she didn’t want to work as a CPA. Right before graduating, Liz started work as a back-up administrative assistant/receptionist at the NEFSC's Narragansett Laboratory. Before long, she transitioned to a full-time administrative assistant role where she learned a lot about NOAA Fisheries and the administrative aspects associated with supporting the science center’s mission. In the spring of 2019, Liz took a new position, joining the NEFSC Budget & Finance Branch as a budget assistant, supporting the Ecosystems and Aquaculture Division.
