Summary

NOAA Fisheries announces that the Pacific Fishery Management Council has submitted Amendment 23 to the Coastal Pelagic Species Fishery Management Plan for review by the Secretary of Commerce. Amendment 23 would implement a revised rebuilding plan for the northern subpopulation of Pacific sardine. This revised rebuilding plan is intended to conserve, manage, and rebuild the Pacific sardine stock off the coasts of Washington, Oregon, and California.

In accordance with provisions of the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), we also announce the availability for review of the draft environmental assessment (EA) for the revised Pacific sardine rebuilding plan. The document is accessible electronically (see Supporting Documents below).

NOAA Fisheries is soliciting public comment for 60 days on Amendment 23 and the draft environmental assessment. Comments may be submitted to NOAA's National Marine Fisheries Service at regulations.gov to the comment coordinator during the public comment period. Comments must be received by May 12, 2025.
